Our shoe fascination isn't limited to just our own feet these days..ohnonono..It was bad to begin with but once children entered our lives, it went all went to pot.  There clearly aren't enough closets in one house, especially if you're a mom of a little girl, let alone, three little girls.  That's why we were overjoyed to find Chelsea Baby Luxury Baby Shoes and the uber cute Chelsea Greene herself.  

Chelsea Baby Shoes are made from "Sensuede" fabric, the first of its kind material made using 100% recycled fibers in its construction and 100% GREEN in it's entire milling process.  We also have a unique additoin to the shoes which are a snap on and off tulle bouquet for girls and snap on and off bow ties for boys.  These interchangeable tulle bouquests can also be snapped onto our very popular girls headbands.  

One pair of shoes, multiple bows.  After we were done pouting that these little beauties were too small for our footsies, we had to know the story behind these eco-friendly fashions, that were environmentally friendly and haute! 

I went to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC for Accessory Design. It was there while constructing shoes from the bottom up and making patterns for handbags that I knew I could succeed at designing my own line. I went on to work for DONGHIA Showroom in NYC starting out as a intern sorting fabric samples, and trying to learn everything I could about the textile industry. Shortly I moved on up to Sales Representative and started playing with the big boys and girls. I thought I had made it! Minnesota girl moves to the Big City. But I was not done there. I moved to Chicago to manage a Showroom and from there back to MN where I became the Outside Sales Representative for textile companies such as Designers Guild, Clarence House, Osborne & Little and Nina Campbell. If you are familiar with any of these designers prints you would would know where I get my inspiration from! I love COLOR and putting together different patterns, textures, and styles together hopefully introducing a fresh take on fashion to the childrens marketplace. After constantly working for designers I thought to myself I am a designer too and I should go for it and start my own line. So thats just what I did. I left my position and made it happen. I have a amazing team of people that work with me. We work out of Minneapolis and are the shoes are all made out of Minneapolis as well. Another fun thing about the line is that all the shoes are named after the people that I love and are important to me. Some of them are a bit crazy I know! The de bossed logo on the bottom of the shoes is designed after my Nana vintage broach (which my very talented brother designed).

Like the Nike ad says "Just Do It", and she did.  Awesome Chelsea....

Wanna Get Away-Calypso St. Barth Headed to Target in May

Hi mamas, hopefully you're all enjoying spring break somewhere warm and tropical! Kimberly is living it up in the city-New York City-and I just got back from Burlington, Vermont.  Neither of which constitutes a tropical get away, however, anywhere we don't have to cook=vacay!

Speaking of tropical, grab those red shopping carriages, because starting May 1, Calypso St. Barth for Target is debuting their collaboration and one of us (rhymes with Late) will be front and center, Starbucks in hand.  

Calypso St. Barth was first founded 19 years ago on the island of St. Barthelemy in the French West Indies. Since then, the retailer has grown from a small resort-wear line to a luxury lifestyle brand.  It's no Burlington Vermont, but St. Bart sounds like a fairly nice place to spend a lifetime vacation! 

Pieces will range from 1.99 to 79.99, so no need to sweat it out over high prices, this is Target after all.  The line will be carried only until June 11th though so get those minivans moving.

No..sorry, no real life baby here, just Kate branching out the "Haute" empire (I should probably put quotation marks around empire as well, huh?) to the under 4' crowd.  We don't discriminate here.

Happy Saturday Mamas! It's Spring Break here, and Kimberly and Kate are taking this week to hit the road  with their haute kids.  Traveling is my favorite thing to do and I can't wait to get out of town!  Can't travel without chic travel accessories right? How about this handmade eco friendly kimono robe?  Who says you can't lounge in luxury, even when the kids are hooping and hollering through the hotel room?

Gwyneth's Father's Daughter + A Love of All Things Striped

 
 Well we learned a lot about eating from Kimberly's cousin, and I will be taking my iPhone with me to Stop and Shop and stocking up on protein and fiber friendly snacks next time.  Who knew Fage was pronounced Fa-yay? Am I alone in this?.  

Speaking of eating, my fave celeb, and multi-tasker (then again, aren't all moms? Multi taskers-probably not celebs.) is out with a cookbook today.  Gwyneth Paltrow, released her new cookbook, My Fathers Daughter today, and of course I'll be purchasing it immediately.  And hoping to God her fathers kitchen skills were nothing like my own fathers.  Although I am fairly certain he didn't intentionally mean to food poison us.

Now one might say I'm  a little Gwyneth stalker obsessed.  But doi.. obviously we were meant to be besties-hello, shared love of the striped tees! 

Look-we both love the no makeup and ponytail look too!  One of us has better luck with it.

Hello Mamas,

Spring is here and you know what is lurking around the corner......... Bathing suit season, like a dragon breathing down your back. The heat is on! 

In my opinion though it is more important to learn how to make changes in our eating habits that not only help you shed the winter coat but also give you GOOD HEALTH and in return HAPPINESS.  Back in February I  met with my beautiful and very knowledgeable cousin Nicole Grady Haute Mama of two. She taught me a few tips for eating healthy and some healthy  snacks for busy moms on the go. I walked away that night grateful I love veggies and Broccoli but Nicole for the life of me I can not wrap my head around Cottage Cheese :-(  Maybe if they come up with a version that taste like Reeses Peanut Butter Cups  but only then it is still a maybe!

All seriousness there has been a phenomenon in our family in the last two years. Many of our family members have lost significant amounts of weight, not only do they look amazing but have been able to go off of a lot of their medications as well. Now Nicole is not a doctor or a nutritionist. She simply teaches people how to eat a low glycemic diet. To keep their blood sugar levels stable which in turn helps them control their cravings. 

Below is Paula who worked hard on the program and enjoyed a 96lb weight loss!! Paula congratulations you look HAUTE!!!!!! Way to go!! We Mamas are Proud. Of. You!!!

This isn't a diet it is learning how to shop, learning how to eat healthy, it is a lifestyle transition. Let me tell you the benefits are worth giving up some of the sugars that we all crave and love.  The key Nicole said is to retrain your metabolism and palette.

"So when it comes to eating and maintaining energy, many of us are in the same cycle. We eat something quick and easy for breakfast and most of us nothing at all.  Usually we grab for something we are craving a bagel, english muffin, cereal. I'm not saying never eat this stuff, but if you are eating it every day, it's going to affect your energy levels and your waist line. I teach my clients to eat 9- 12 cups of veggies every day. They are packed with fiber, I believe the key to gaining and maintaining healthy metabolism. In addition to the morning veggies you will need your protein. You can get this by eating eggs, soy milk, dairy, yogurt etc. Starting your day off healthy will hopefully lead you to healthy snaking during the day. My mid morning snacks are usually veggies and fruit. Fruit in moderation though too many will affect your sugar levels. Too much Fructose.  For successful snacking preparation is KEY! If you don't have the right things with you when you leave the house or at home when you walk in the door, you will eat the convenient foods which are typically sugary and carb loaded.  Knowledge is key" -- Nicole Grady

Boston Marathoner-Fashions from the Paved Carpet

To all those enduring the 26.2 miles today..may the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be at your back...sorry, that's all I've got..

Waistband Meet My Waistline..... Kimberly's Spring Time Favorite High Waisted Flare Jeans

 

Hello Mamas,

 

I said to myself if there was one thing I would own for this spring/summer (who am I kidding) any hoot it would be a pair of high waisted flare jeans. As you can see I am a women of my word. Definitely a job hazard as a blogger and connoisseur of everything fashionable I researched and found me a pair. Wahllaa!

I love these jeans for many reasons, born in the 70's I was instantly drawn to them as I  remember my mom rockin a pair of these bad boys when I was a little girl. Second when I bend over to pick up after the kids my pants do not need to be adjusted if you know what I mean mamas. No grabbing at the belt loops and hoisting them up again! 

Now I will note I am a size 8-10 definitely a curvy Mama so I think these jeans can flatter many body types. 

 

I would like to personally thank J.Lo and Kim Kardashian for bringing back the bootie, junk in the trunk, gluteus maximus, baby got back whatever you would like to call it!!

My ten year old daughter Caroline was my photographer for this post. At this point I was acting goofy to really get her eyes rolling! By the way she enjoyed the shoot so much she asked for a $13,000 camera! anyway moving on........

I will give you a warning you must style them correctly... I feel like a blousy top looks better with the high waisted jean if you are a curvy girl and need to create the illusion of a defined waist like I do.... example the photo heard around the world of Jessica Simpson

I don't think the jeans looked bad on her, it was the belt, tight top and bad bra! Poor Jessica, I still love the girl! 

Not to add insult to injury but I just love Vanessa Minnillo's outfit in this picture.  Again, so sorry Jessica all in the name of a good post. I still dream of the reality show Nick and Jessica Newlyweds once again..... sigh!
