FROM FASHION AVE TO MOTHERHOOD + BACK AGAIN. 3 FRIENDS WITH 3 DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES ON FASHION, BEAUTY AND LIFE.... AND UNLIKE OUR CHILDREN WE LOVE TO SHARE..
That's right, today while we all remain housebound and ill (bah humbug) we at least have our Norad Santa tracker to keep us entertained. This amazing technology uses Google Earth to show Santa flying into Sydney! Watch him pass through Paris! Right now, as of 7:51 EST, Santa is in Khabarovsk, Russia.
I hope those kids are asleep and not reading this.
You can even track him on your smart phone while you're out finishing up those last minutes errands (like buying cookies and milk, Love Santa).
check in throughout the day at Norad Tracks Santa or find them on Facebook.
I thought with the craziness this week brings, last minute shopping, wrapping, cooking, bribing your sons to wear their Holiday School Concert attire! Ugh!!! My Lord I think I promised them a Red Rider Beebee gun? Anyhoot, I thought I would take a stab at writing something that would make you laugh today.
Can we talk about the Elf? The oh so adorable Elf on a Shelf! Now, this Mama has had her Elf for three years now, his name is Jack. Three years ago I staged a delivery from the North Pole to my children. When they opened the box it was The Elf on a Shelf, the kids were so excited... we read the book and they decided to name him Jack. I felt like the best mom in the world! I brought this wonderful tradition to my home and my children and future grandchildren for years to come......
I have every letter my children have written to him, recently my daughter Caroline and son Ryon wrote this to Jack.... I missed what went down and why these notes were written as I was never to see them.. only for Jack.. AHEM! I can only imagine!!
Hear is the catch and what I didn't know about this adorable Elf. He will turn parents and grandparents everywhere into pathalogical liars. Okay, that sounds a bit harsh how about Domestic little fibbers! Ha! better!!! The first fib I told was he turns magic when you name him. Second was he will lose his magic if you touch him, third was (Because some nights I forget to move him) he didn't move last night because the winds were to strong for him to make his trip to the north pole, or you kids got lucky Jack is giving you another chance to be good before he reports to Santa! Recently I was asked by my daughter in Barnes and Noble why are they selling Jack? I thought he came from Santa? Oh that was an Academy Award winning Fib! yes, there have been millions told. This can't be good for my Karma BUT.......
Holiday 2009
to see the excitement still three years later when they wake up searching the house to see where he decided to sit for the new day. I hear " I found him! I found him!" or to read every heart felt letter they write to him. I have a feeling like Andy from Toy Story, when that day comes when they no longer believe in Jack's Magic and it is time to pack him away it will pull on my heart strings just a bit. My wish to Jack when that day comes is that I will see him again one day as my hope is to have a home filled with Grandchildren that will visit my home on Christmas and to hear my children tell theirs about Jack the magic Elf.
I'm telling you there is something in the water down here in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts that seems to draw out talent! We have so many Mamaprenuers in our town we could just dedicate the entire blog to them.
Today I would like to introduce you to one... Interior Decorator and mother of (four boys) Greta Fox. Greta has opened her home to us and allowed us to show you her vision of Christmas in her new seaside home. Mamas prepared to be wowed!!!!
and here are some more shots for you to enjoy of our very talented friend Greta Fox.
" When decorating your home for the Holidays to create the biggest impact pick one favorite spot preferably high up like a mantle. Somewhere out of reach from curious little hands and don't be afraid to get creative. I like to use Mercury glass because it reflects the light from the tree as well as candles etc. For tree placement I like to tell my clients to place it near a window because it reflects the light and creates a bigger impact at night." - Greta
As you can see in this picture below creativity is Greta's strong point! She had these bunk beds custom built for her boys and with the ceiling painted navy.... skies the limit!
Besides the interior Design shows she frequents, Greta also finds items for her clients at local shops like Serendipity by the Sea, Homegoods, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn etc.
Greta provides services in Interior Decorating, Visual Displays, Holiday Decorating, Party Decor, Home Staging, Paint Consultation as well as Home Building/Design Consultant. To contact Greta you may email her at [email protected]
Greta, thank you for allowing us to show your home it is truly Spectacular! You are one Haute Talented Mama! We wish you much continued success in your business.
