The Leprechaun's inspired us this week to be GREEN!

Hello Mamas,

This week we are all about "Green" and I mean all things green, irish clovers, green fashion, even being green.  Doing things that will help us protect our planet. 

This website was sent to us Mamas a few weeks ago and we knew as moms we wanted to share it with you.  I cannot tell you how many papers pour into my home everyday from school. The one's that I know someday will be treasures will be my children's artwork.  Some pieces I have framed, and some are in a tupperware in the basement.

Chad Turingan created this  NEW website called Dwawings. A  new FREE website where you can finally save your kid's drawings and share them with your family and friends.  

Chad's experience working at an elementary school, he noticed overtime, students drawings, artwork and projects accumulate and as much as he would like to keep all of them they ended up in the  trash *cough, cough* he meant recycle bin!

This inspired him to create this website where you become a member and simply upload pictures of your children's artwork.  So simple and easy and GREEN!!!!

No more shopping?? Maybe.. but it's definitely time to start to get your cook on... or at least think about it!!

Hi My fellow Haute Mamas!!! It's  Christina...

And if your not done shopping.. I am done to have all of you shopping... Being that I am still one of the CRAZY ones that still work in retail.. why is it that everyone has decided it's christmas this weekend? Did you or your family members NOT get the memo that Christmas is the same day every year?? Why does everyone wait to the week before.. I had staff, product and hours 3 weeks ago waiting for you... and like every year you all wait till the week of.  So those of you that are done shopping (thank you!!) and are starting to think about what you will be cooking and/or bringing to your families houses on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day,  I have an amazing SALAD that I have been in charge of making for EVERY family event.... I mean EVERY..  I am even known for the salad at Bella's play group... But I must confess... It's really not my recipe it's a dear old friend's Judy. So get your pens ready...

Pear Salad

3 heads of Romaine lettuce chopped

3 Pears peeled, cored and chopped

1 large cucumber

2 containers of crumbled gorgonzola cheese (other crumbled cheeses optional..use your fav)

shredded carrots and red cabbage

grilled chicken (optional.. I do it for lunches or if it's my main meal) 

Wacky Walnuts

1 large bag (12oz) walnuts 

3 egg whites

1 cup splenda (sugar substitute, you may use granulated sugar)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1/2 tablespoon of nutmeg

Beat egg whites to a frothy state in large bowl. Mix nuts into egg whites covering evenly.  In small bowl mix dry ingrediants. Mix dry ingrediants evenly over nuts. Place nuts evenly onto baking sheet that is covered with aluminum foil!!! (if you do not use aluminum you will have a mess to clean up)!!  Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F., Flip nuts to other side and bake for another 15 minutes. (depending on ovens, you may have to cook longer or a lesser time, the nuts should brown a bit). Put the the side to cool so you can add to salad at end.

Sweet Balsamic Salad Dressing

1 part olive oil

1 part balsamic vinegar

1/2 part maple syrup (must be real not aunt jemima syrup that is used for pancakes)

Mix or shake very well before covering salad. Toss salad!!!

Kiss the cook..... Haute themed snack for your child's classroom holiday parties

Hello Mamas,

Here we go! TIS THE SEASON FOR A PARTY!! FaLaLaLaLa.. LaLaLaLa!! Yes,  in the last couple of days we have been getting those emails about our kiddo's classroom parties. Now you know instantly what you are wearing hopefully inspired by some of our posts! LOL!!! but you break out into a sweat because last year your apple slices sprinkled with cinnimon were a bust! I know nothing about that by the way!! AHEM!! and you think of Super Mom standing in the corner with her Uber Holiday Children's Party Snack getting all the praise from other mom's (who by the way are saying in their head.... say it! say it!! Give her props or you'll look like an ..... !) LOL!!!! 

Like we said before one  of our motto's is mamas helping mamas! Your modern day Charlie's Angels are here to help! 

 

This snack is called Reindeer Chow! I scored this idea at Organized Christmas.com

A simple concoction of cereals, pretzels, and M&M-brand seasonal candies sparkled with white chocolate coating, Reindeer Chow is a fast, last minute snack mix recipe for holiday gatherings. They had me at fast and M&M's!! Lol!!!

Package Reindeer Chow in zipper food storage bags or cellophane snack bags for an easy classroom treat. Add a free printable gift tag with the Reindeer Chow Poem to really make those super mom's steam with envy!!! 

Love this last part... add your baggies to a large doggie bowl and use those foam stickers and add Rudolph's name to it!! Its all in the marketing mamas!!!!! 

Ingredients..

1 pound of white chocolate chips

3 cups Rice Chex-Brand Cereal

3 cups Corn Chex-Brand Cereal

3 cups Cheerios-brand cereal

2 cups Pretzel sicks

12 once M&M-brand chocolate candies

 copies of the printable gift tags

cellophane

Makes about 30 servings

Instuctions.......

slowly melt chocolate in double broiler over water. Alternately, place white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave on high for 30- second intervals, sitting between each, until chocolate is melted.

Combine remaining ingredients in a large bow, then drizzle melted chocolate over top and mix well. Spread in a shallow layer on a cookie sheet or broiler pan.

Allow to cool completely, then package in a single serving bags or cellophane. Tie your reindeer poem to the baggies your done Mama!!! Whew!!!

When reindeer fly on Christmas night,

They work up quite an appetite!

But Mrs. Claus knows what to do,

To feed them when the flight is through.

She mixes up some Reindeer Chow.

A secret only she knows how.

With something salty, something sweet,

It's Rudolfh's favorite reindeer treat.

Back in her kitchen at the Pole,

She heaps it high in every bowl 

To welcome her returning crew

So here's a batch that's just for you!

 

Ahhhh I love it!!! I can hear the voices in the head now........... Lol!!!

A Spectacular Seaside Home's Holiday Tour.......

Hello Mamas,

I'm telling you there is something in the water down here in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts that seems to draw out talent! We have so many Mamaprenuers in our town we could just dedicate the entire blog to them. 

Today I would like to introduce you to one... Interior Decorator and mother of (four boys) Greta Fox.  Greta has opened her home to us and allowed us to show you her vision of Christmas in her new seaside home.  Mamas prepared to be wowed!!!!

" When decorating your home for the Holidays to create the biggest impact pick one favorite spot preferably high up like a mantle. Somewhere out of reach from curious little hands and don't be afraid to get creative. I like to use Mercury glass because it reflects the light from the tree as well as candles etc.  For tree placement I like to tell my clients to place it near a window because it reflects the light and creates a bigger impact at night." - Greta

As you can see in this picture below creativity is Greta's strong point! She had these bunk beds custom built for her boys and with the ceiling painted navy.... skies the limit!

Boston's Emerging Designers of today.... could be our Hautest designers of tomorrow!!

Hello Mamas,

Last thursday night during Boston's fashion week, I had the pleasure of attending a Rising Design fashion show held at Mobius in Boston. The style for the show was a throw back to the Parisian Couture Fashion shows of the past . When collections were shown in intimate settings like bistro's, there were no exploding volcanoes or massive angel wings and rock and roll bands. They were up close and personal so that the Parisians could get a close up view of the designer's innovative designs, fabric and  workmanship. On this night it was a small enough setting where there was a lot of networking, mingling and also opportunity to chat with the designers about their journey and what inspires them.

During my mingling I had the pleasure of meeting a Haute Mama Stylist and her beautiful 11 year old daughter Eliza. J. Sybylla Smith of Go To Design Studio. Sybylla has an amazing portfolio be sure to check out her beautiful website. What I noticed the most about her was the love and admiration that her daughter had for her. They seemed to be really enjoying each other. Sybylla it was a pleasure meeting you!

Most of these designers have full time jobs maybe even families to care for so they design and sew at night while marketing themselves on the side. They do this because it is their passion. So mamas the moral of this post is that you can live like the rich and famous, there are local fashion shows to attend where you can get to know your local designers and then support them through your local boutiques. As you can see I am all about the word "Local"!!

Are you ready for some football fashionnnnnnnnnn????

That's right mamas, get your tushes ON the couch, it's football season! The best part of fall as far as this mama is concerned.  Pro, college, high school, or Pop Warner, I love football and always have.  Let's not fool ourselves here, fashion plays a major part in football. 

Maybe not the idea I was going for but A for effort... Everyone knows I am a New England girl at heart, and I grew up going to Patriots game with my season pass holder father at Schaefer Stadium.  Now Lord knows I hate winter as much as I hate the Jets, so sitting on metal seats in the middle of a nor'easter was not exactly my favorite way to cheer the team on.  This just can't be right, I'd think to myself? plotting an eventual move to the Sunshine State. These days I stick to at home games.  Meaning at my home.  Where I can dress my girls and I up in all our New England gear and whoop it up and the only thing frosty are the margaritas! 

I know a lot of women shudder at the thought of football season.. Well even if you hate the game you can have some fun with it.  Make it about the food, the fun, the family time, and most importantly..the fashion!

So mamas..Are you ready for some football fashionnnnnnnnnnnn?????????????

Hello Everyone Kimberly Here!!

Kate is right I have been up to my eye balls in back to school paper work and getting caught up on sketches, paintings, cleaning .... all the things that got pushed to the side this summer while the kiddo's were home. I have actually been a few minutes late picking my boys up thinking to myself... could I just have another hour!! 

I would like to share with you all a very funny and genius idea by my friend, interior designer Greta Fox. Greta just built a beautiful new home on the water here in Mattapoisett. I WILL be posting pictures as soon as she gets moved in and settled because Greta has four boys and this house has so many great ideas you will be inspired! Anyway, Greta asked me to paint inside her toilet a life ring to give her boys a target!!! LOL!!!! I of course was honored cause you know only the Hautest Artists get these requests!! LOL!!!

   

Now If Hurricane Earl was a girl we would most likely know where it was aiming at. Second we could probably stop her in her tracks for this Labor Day Sale at Tory Burch!!

OH I would paint 100 toilets for these boots!!! They are to die for!!!! 

Flannel Patterson Boot $ 495 ( additional 25%off this weekend) Great savings however, I know for some of us it is like losing a deck chair off the titanic!!! LOL!!! The upside is they are classic and you would get a few years out of them!! Can you see how my mind works!! hahaha!!

Oh Dear...... my children's school just called and there is half day tomorrow due to the hurricane!! To quote the Dixie Chicks..... that Earl has to die!!!
