The Ellie Fund did it again... One Haute night to help endure the fight!

Hello Mamas!!

As you know Kate, Christina and I have decided that one way we can help our fellow mamas who are battling breast cancer in our community is to show our support at some of these events.

Susan Wornick said it best. Breast cancer doesn't run in my family but it could one day, and I have friends and women in my community who have been affected by it and that is why it is important for me to help. Well I feel the same way. I have watched helplessly two dear friends in their very early thirties  battle breast cancer! All with the demands of babies at home. I am so thankful to say they are survivors in every sense of the word. 

This night at the fabulous Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, three women playwrights Lisa Rafferty, Pam Ahi and Jane McGovern of the Momologues wrote a scripted reading called Pink Ribbon Overdose to benefit The Ellie Fund. It was comedy and it was reality all wrapped in one. I think one of the best attributes we have as women is our strength and our ability to find the funny in life.  This night we laughed and laughed and at the end of the show I looked at my sister and we were crying.  Typical women!! hahaha!! Oh ya and then we all hit the bar!! 

I can not say enough wonderful things about the Ellie Fund. They really throw amazing events and I know I speak for Kate and Christina as well, we hope as we grow to be able to contribute more. Our Mamas need us!! 

This was indeed a fabulous night and as usual Susan Wornick had us all in stitches laughing. She joked that people would come up to her and say "you are so funny." "cause you know you're not that funny on TV." hahaha!! Little did she know my mom was saying the same thing to me about her. " I never realized how funny she was."

Hi, Kate here, and my two cents on the play.  Early on I sat listening to these woman explain diagnosis, chemo,  and what it meant to them.  I got it, but I didn't really "get it" until I looked out at the room around me, full of survivors and women undergoing chemotheraphy on their way to becoming survivors.  To imagine being in their( high heeled) shoes sent the lump into my throat, the tears in my eyes, and my pride soaring..You ladies are truly haute!

 The play was read by Julie Lerner Nations Director of The Ellie Fund and mom of three under the age of 4! She was joined by channel 5's morning anchor Bianca de la Garza, daughter of a breast cancer survivor and mom of a 4 year old daughter as well as Erica McDermott mom, nurse and daughter of a breast cancer survivor and now actress! You will see her in the upcoming movie "The Fighter" as Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale's sister. Congrats Erica! and last but not least Karen Holmes Ward breast cancer survivor and lives by these prime directives: ' laughter is the best medicine', 'shop til you drop' and take time to 'uncork your inner diva!' I will give an amen to that!!!

Kate, Christina and I along with our winner Michelle Murphy of Scituate Mass had a ball, we walked the red carpet, fell  in love with a great drink Iced tea vodka with lemonade!! YIKES!! and mingled with the crowd! We laughed, we cried bust most important we wanted to show our support!

Haute Mama Spotlight on Designer Tory Burch

Hello Mamas,

 Christina and I along with our chic fashionista assistant Bella ventured to Bloomingdales this past wednesday  at the Chestnut Hill Mall in Chestnut Hill Massachusetts to meet one of our favorite Designers Tory Burch. Tory Burch's most famous creation is the Reva  ballet flat! If that is not the Uber Sheek Mommy shoe! I don't know what is!

This was Tory's first appearance in Massachusetts and we were so honored and lucky to be there.  Tory Burch is a mom of 3 boys running a fashion empire and I could sense when I met her a very genuine person. 

Burch joined Boston Celtic Ray Allen’s wife, Shannon, for a shopping afternoon to benefit the Joslin Diabetes Center. On display was Burch’s utilitarian chic fall collection.“It was about a girl in a gallery, anywhere in the world,” she said.

 Christina and I tried on some of her Fall line, I ended up buying an oversized gray and black striped sweater! Great with my leggings and knee high boots!! For our upcoming 20th High School Reunion Christina tried on a beautiful dress with feathers! We loved it but Christina was afraid she would be too hot  as it was made with wool fabric! Christina's 2 yr old daughter Bella had on her Tory Burch Cardigan which I must say paid off as her cuteness factor got us to the front of the line! 

Christina and Ms. Burch chatted about a possible shoe line for toddlers and I told her as a mom of three boys as well I'm in the trenches with her!  We laughed! I told her about our blog and she said hello to all our followers! 

When I was driving home I called Kate and I said to her.... "I feel like I met royalty today!!! and to see a mom out there balancing it all is quite inspiring!! We just adored her!!

From behind the shopping bags.... One Haute Mama - Meet Christina

Christina could be known as the princess of the trio..... never without a label she lives breathes and sleeps fashion. Bloomingdales has been known to greet her at their door with coffee!! She has lived all around the world with up to 6 passports and over 40 stamps  from birth in India to her parents homes of Vietnam and Sweden; starting Kindergarten in South Africa and most of her childhood years in Saudi Arabia. Eventually moving to the USA and landing in Miami (hitting the same local places as Kate!!) and making her home in Massachusetts with her husband and daughter. She is currently a busy working mom for the Banana Republic division of Gap Inc. Christina has a degree in Fashion Merchandising which she has made her career. She has worked for Gap Inc. for 10 plus years, Federated - Macy's division.  She also ran her own Merchandising Consulting business and worked for some smaller local companies setting up stores and creating windows. Christina also has a fashion and accessory business on the side inspired by her daughter called Bella Fashions. Christina says, " I am one lucky girl to be surrounded by my amazing husband & daughter, my family and friends whom have always supported me in all my crazy ideas. I took a few left turns in my life but when I looked to the right and saw the people I loved looking at me... I knew I needed to turn around..... Bleh.  Half a bottle of champagne is more up our alley, but I digress.  Six months ago we sat together and said there's three of us.  We're mamas.  We believe in making life haute.  Hey...wait a minute......

And wow! What an absolutely amazing experience it's been! Feedback has been phenomenal and just sends us over the moon.  We're just passionate about what we do and hopefully it shoes (oops) shows;)  

By far the question we are asked the most is who are the mamas? What is Three Haute Mamas?  We hope as Haute Mamas to inspire you to take time to enjoy life and all that this wonderful world of ours has to offer, if you seem to have lost yourself among the laundry and find yourself daydreaming of what you once were or could be as you are carpooling....... we hope to bring that women out in you!! Boston's Fashion Week 2010.. Three Haute Mamas will be back stage lending a hand!!

Hello Mamas,

This week marks Boston's Fashion Week 2010. Unfortunately with kids and school and responsibilities we can't be running around boston enjoying all the fantastic shows and after parties! Sigh! However, we were recruited to help back stage at The Rising Designs Fashion Show tomorrow night! YAY!! 

 Rising Design, a cooperative of independent Boston fashion designers, presenting both fashion forward and vintage inspired designs for a unique one night only viewing. Shows are at 7pm and 9pm doors will open to the public 15 minutes before show time. They will be presenting in an intimate setting with 56 seats and standing room only for the public. Tickets are $10. The show is being held at Mobius, 725 Harrison Ave South Boston. If you have a passion for fashion and can get the night off come join us!!

When it comes to fashion, Boston has a very international flair. Our community is made up of  a lot of students and business people. It is a city that is not as in your face as other markets. That being said it is a smaller market very intellectual therefore, a great place to launch a product or line.  Having gone to school for fashion design I am extremely excited to be able to lend a hand to these up and coming designers back stage. Stay tuned for pictures!!!

Haute Mama Christina can sure throw a party!! It was Bananas!!!!

Hello Everyone,

 

Last night Kate and I drove to the Chestnut Hill Mall to lend a hand to fellow Haute Mama Christina as she was previewing Banana Republic's Fall line. 

 

Well I have known Christina since high school and since day one..... yes she was the new kid in 10th grade and arrived to school in a limo!! HA!!!! She always knows how to draw a crowd! Last night she did it again! Rockin' DJ, adorable bartender, dee-lish caterer ( her food was beyond..beyond..) and also got a top makeup artist from Laura Mercier and a nail tech from Bliss Spa!! What else could a girl want!!! Oh so much fun!!!

 
 

  

I worked retail for many many years and last night brought back many memories including aching feet!! I really enjoyed, as I once did years ago, talking to people and helping them find clothing that made them feel beautiful and in fashion! I had a very excited grad school student who kept saying to me...... I have to stop shopping!!! Oh sister I can relate!!! hahahaha!!!! I had some very funny women who had amazing style, very polished and put together and then there was the women who told me..... I do not wear gray!!!! hahaha!!! 

 

There were all different women, all different body types and we, along with the fabulous Banana Republic Staff styled them all!! There was not a lot of traffic in the mall last night all their clients came specifically for the preview event! It was a huge success!!!

I have to second Kim's opinion on the night and we just want to thank everyone who came out to support us in our first big event since leaving the fashion industry.  Made me thankful a.
