Last Saturday Night we were crazy about Paisley!!!

Hello Mamas Kimberly here!!

I got a text last Saturday at about 11:00 am from Kate saying she had two tickets to The Country Music Festival and I must find a way to go!! LOL!! I was sitting on the beach in Martha's VIneyard with friends and my four children hmmmmm.... 8 hours later I was back home dressed and ready to be high step'n to some country music! 

Even if you are not a fan of country music, (and I am not sure how you could not be) the stories these songs tell are often funny, romantic, but certainly fun to sing along too! This summer especially I have many fond memories of country!!

Kate and I could not get enough of the fashions that night...... Everyone was crazy about Paisley!! Brad Paisley that is! 

 

Lots of beautiful girls in Cowboy hats and boots! Lots of men in Muscle shirts and Cowboy hats!!  Everyone was kick'n it up and singing along! Country music is about real life to the hilt!

Here comes the Indian bride..and her credit card!

While researching India for my post I came across an interesting statistic

the Indian wedding industry has today ballooned to a whopping 40-billion dollar enterprise, and is still growing exponentially.  -the Malaysia Star

Ooohh..apparently Indian brides and grooms have decided to ignore the recession and throw caution to the wind on their wedding day. 

“Often, money is not even discussed at client meetings,” says wedding planner, Meher Sarid. “They just tell us what they want and we have to produce it.”-the Malaysia Star

I  can't stand it! 

The most talked about wedding celebration in recent history was the one hosted by US-based Indian hotelier Sant Chatwal, 65, for his son Vikram’s marriage to Delhi model Priya Sachdev in 2007.  The wedding had creative inputs from Milan’s Paola Ricotti and production designer Sumant Jaikrishnan was on the scale of a Hollywood production. Who can forget the uber chic Elizabeth Hurley when she married that insanely good looking ___________ (whoever he was, but he was in fact, Indian)? The point of the matter is..Who could forget that wedding?

Are you kidding me? I mean everyone looks good on their wedding day, but Liz, you set the bar. And by the way..that handsome Indian man..has a name.  Arun Nayar.  It's Indian for tall drink of water.  

And the colors....White schmite, it's all about color dah-ling. Did someone say BLING baby?

Quite frankly I'd skip right over the china and register for either of these dresses.  Just a suggestion brides-to-be..

Eat(ing), Love(ing) , Pray(ing)

Very excited to be seeing Javier Bardem Eat, Love, Pray tonight! Thought the book was pretty good through Italy and India but lost me once she hit Indonesia.. Recaptured me with the words "Javier Bardem" though.  On that note..

EAT(ing)..Skinny Italian.  Who doesn't love Real Housewives of New Jersey (and if you don't you're such a liar closet watcher)? However, do real housewives cook? They do in Jersey baby.  And this housewife cooks exactly the way I like-fresh, simple, and minimal ingredients.  Clearly with 4 gorgeous children underfoot the gal's not spending all her time in the kitchen if you catch my drift.. Teresa is funny and strikingly honest, in a good way. There are as many stories as there are recipes, which I enjoy, being a not so fond of the kitchen type gal.  The recipes deserve applause though..Zucchini "spaghetti" Salad, Sexy Swordfish with capers and lemon and Balsamic Garlic Bites. Should she cook like this for her castmates I will be submitting an application for the replacement Housewife.  I know she's been in the press a lot lately for whatever financial reasons, but I give her a lot of credit for holding her head high, and keeping the skinny in skinny jeans. Mangia Teresa!

LOVE(ing).. Sandras Closet.  I'd like to say I discovered Sandra, but she found me! And like Dolce+Gabbana, a match made in heaven.  The only thing wrong with her blog is that I can't have every single item she highlights. Aside from that, impeccably put together and you will be hooked from the first visit!  Sandra shares her insights and personal styling ideas she's cultivated through her years in the fashion industry as a stylist and fashion editor for marie claire magazine.  

This is a story on style. Don`t take it too seriously!  Be your own muse. Style is personal, be confident and try things out. I would love to inspire you and make dressing fun.  You might find some of the key items before they will appear in the fashion magazines and hit the stores. On the other side you will get an insight into Sandra`s Closet, get some of my personal styling ideas with vintage and new pieces, meet  new designers.

Another Fairy Tale Wedding designed by Vera Wang !!

Hello Everyone,

I came across some pictures posted by WWD of Chelsea Clinton on her wedding day this past Saturday. She was stunning!! Her wedding dress was designed by Vera Wang. Chelsea also changed into a silk tulle cross-back grecian gown with a narrow grosgrain black belt for the reception. Some girls have all the luck!!

Her wedding to  took place at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck NY.  Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton released this statement:

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

Awwwww spoken like your everyday political parents of the Bride!!! LOL!!!

Haute(ical) Nautical-the Kardashian way

 I will admit to being a lover of the Kardashian style.  I think they hit it spot on in most cases and I love that even though Kourtney is a new mom, she doesn't have that new mom look that I sported for the first eight years eight months. I think the nautical look can be a little overdone sometimes but I am so in love this look I had to share. Simple, classic, yet haute. And by the way..the top and the skirt..H+M. 

 Well done haute mama!!

Target recently debuted it's newest celeb line geared towards the shorter crowd-The Little Seed, organic childrens wear by Soleil Moon Frye.  You may remember her as Punky Brewster.  I remember her as the girl people used to swear I resembled as a child.  You think I look like..Punky..Brewster?? Mind you this was like.. freshman year?

 

"but she grew into such a beautiful girl..you should be so honored".  

I am. She is beautiful, and her joy at bringing all things organic into childrens lives should be commended.  Especially at such an affordable price.  She also has a wonderful website, and is a must follow on twitter. So if you're a pregnant mama, have babies or looking for a baby gift, why not go green + save some green as well?   

Shoulda Woulda Coulda...... a lesson for our new " Expectant" Haute Mamas

Hello Everyone,

Kate picked a great topic to start the week off. We have touched on a lot of body shapes in the past two weeks but we forget the body shape of the expectant mom. I remember the moment when you first find out you are pregnant you have this tingling feeling of Awe. Maybe it is that moment of self doubt and fear.... will I be a good Mom, will the baby be healthy. Slowly you begin to regain your composure and Holla!!!......... let the eating, shopping, name selection etc. begin!!! 65 lbs later............. with all three pregnancies and my middle one was twins. I weighed the day I gave birth what an NFL Linebacker weighs..... I am not lying!!!! I do remember lying in the hospital bed after Caroline was born and looking at my stomach saying look how flat it is! Then I stood up!!! AARRGGHHHHHHHHH!!! 

Kate, Christina and I would now like to grab you by the shoulders and very seriously look you in the eye and say.......... " The only thing we would change during our pregnancy would be to try and remember that in 9 months that healthy baby will leave your body and at that time you do NOT want to be so far gone from your weight, your piece of mind, your self, that a missing persons report will be filed by you...... With a Pre- Pregnancy shot of yourself!!!

Anyway, I read this book a few years ago written by a mother of 10 children Kathryn Sansone! YES 10!! No multiples!!! her book is called " Women first family always !" she writes "You are important as a women and an individual, not simply as a mother or a wife. During 19 years of marriage, with children, I've learned that if a women gives up an aspect of herself-either the women in her, the mother, or the wife- the other two facets will suffer." What I took from her book was it is okay to make time for you! It benefits everyone!! 

There are so many great fitness sites out there that you can get great tips on excercise while pregnant. That coca butter cream will not keep you from stretch marks I can guarantee it! I slathered that stuff on everyday! So much of it that it turned my maternity underwear (the kind that comes up over your belly! AH.. HA... YEP!! orange!! ) Moderate weight gain is the only thing that helps and good gene's! My biggest recommendation to you would be Pre-natal yoga and long walks!! It is so good for you, your baby and your well being! Also, if you are adopting a baby you need to be mentally prepared as well. Take time for YOU before your baby comes! 

We would also like to tell you.....Don't give up your personal style while your pregnant this can be very challenging because of your shape and who wants to spend a fortune on maternity wear!! A great tip... check out your local high end thrift stores there maybe some great finds.  Also, celebrity mom's are saving the day for us by launching there own maternity lines and products!! Here is one of my favorite celebrity moms Heidi Klum. YES! favorite even after she walked down the Victoria Secret runway in a thong two months after giving birth to her second child!!!! For the love of God!!!! LOL!!!

 Heidi Klum's line's Loved and Lavish can be found at a Pea in the Pod    and Motherhood Maternity. Actress and Mom Mariska Hargitay sums it up perfectly.... " I'm a women, I'm a goddess, I've earned this body. My body is a badge of honor." Ooooo Love that!!! Also, my neighbor once told me... " don't worry about giving birth.... it is what our bodies are meant to do!" She was so right! Piece of Cake!!! LOL!!

Rock that belly

Oceanside yesterday I couldn't help but be in awe of a soon to be mama sporting a teeny tiny bikini while at least 8 months pregnant.  Totally haute, and when she left, a simple sarong wrap to complete the look. Now I don't live in a mecca of fashion, au contraire, 8 month pregnant mamas generally sport your basic maternity suits. This left me thinking I always I wasn't always in control of my belly or "the girls" when I was pregnant.  They kind of "snuck out", not in a bad way, and that was fine.  Think about it..pregnancy is the one time when your fanny is finally proportionately smaller than your waist.  The "girls" are full and cleavage abounds.  Your stomache is tight.  Maybe not six pack tight but all the same.  If you've never sported a bikini by all means, now may be the time to rock and roll with your big bad belly.

Oh My Gosh!!! Did you lose weight?

I was twittering... hmmmmm....is that the right terminology? a few minutes ago and I came across a tweet from Instyle magazine. They asked Kim Kardashian to give tips on how to dress a curvy body.   This is what she had to say........ and I the "conventional" curvy Kim  added my thoughts as well. 

Find a Great Tailor

"Anything you wear should be proportioned to your body, and a good tailor will make sure everything fits perfectly. I either have my tailor at every fitting or I have my stylist pin my wardrobe and take it to the tailor before I wear anything. Shortening a hem line on a dress can make a huge difference!" I agree Kim Kardashian but real life mom's don't have stylists however you can enlist the services of great sales people at boutiques and retail stores. They can help you find clothes that will fit your body closely enough that it can give you that tailored look. They may also know of an affordable tailor in your area or on site if you truly need one. So don't be afraid to ask them for help! It will be their pleasure I guarantee it!

Accentuate Your Waist

"Show off that tiny waist! Adding a belt makes your outfit look more polished. I have great belts from Phillip Lim and Alaia. Vintage belts are one of a kind and can be affordable too." and you have a 20" waist Kim!! Ask Christina! I have a phobia about showing my waistline!! but when she does get me to try a belt wrapped around my waist it really does look great. Something you may want to try... you may love the way it makes you look! I'll try to embrace that look this fall! Pinkie swear!! 

Avoid Oversize Tops and Dresses

"I know they are comfortable and they look amazing on Nicole Richie but flowy tops and dresses are not flattering on a curvy figure. They can make you look pregnant and they look sloppy in photos. Try wearing a maxidress instead. A.L.C, Torn by Ronny Kobo and T Bags make some great ones."  Agreed!! I wore a tight black dress to a charity event last February and when I took of my wrap I remember Kate saying.." You look so skinny have you lost weight?"  I get that a lot when I wear fitted clothing! She is right.. it works for curvy girls! 

Embrace Shapewear

"Every woman from a size 0-14 should own Spanx! I love Shapewear by Body Wrap; they have a firm control long leg panty that makes my body look smoother and slimmer under fitted dresses without leaving any lines."  YES!!! I went to a wine tasting last winter and I wanted so badly to wear my cream sweater dress!! I was kicking myself when I realized I didn't have any spanx! My panty lines looked horrid!! I now own two pair... that will never happen again! If you find yourself at a mall just buy some and put them away for when you need them! You will be so happy you did!

Love Your Curves!
