*we've extended the deadline-you have extra "time" mamas!!
Sorry for the delay in posts this week. One of my perfectly angelic children decided that they would boobie trap the stairs with toothpicks. My youngest fell victim to the prank when he ran down the stairs and stepped on one. Mom however was the one most punished as I have had to carry my 48lb 5 year old around for an entire week. Ah life as a mom of four.
However, this mama did manage to make it out Wednesday night along with Kate and Christina to Cynthia Rowley on Newbury Street Boston for a very fashionable, enjoyable and very successful event. The Mamas and I along with Aj Williams of Creative Events had the Cynthia Rowley Boutique filled with a very lively and fashion forward crowd. We sipped champagne, nibbled on these amazingly moist cupcakes from Party Favors Brookline, laughed, talked fashion, careers, children, laughed some more. There were Mamas getting complimentary hair styling by Shannon Walsh of Jeffrey Lyle Salon. Other Mamas trying on pieces from the Cynthia Rowley Spring 2011 line. Did I mention the amazingly moist cupcakes! Not your mom's funfetti my friend!!!

It was such a fun night! As hard as it is to juggle everything to get a night out as well as living 60 miles away from Boston, Christina, Kate and I still make it a point to experience these sort of events, because we know a good dose of laughter, friends and fashion is just enough to charge these Mamas batteries.
XO Kimberly, Kate and Christina
Special Thank you to Nino Sambataro of Ninopix for amazing pictures and video!! Very talented and all around great guy!!
I love this Arthur Elgort photo. Lauren Hutton makes winter look so glamorous. But when winter temps dip below the 30's, all I want to do is sit inside. And look glamorous.

~Speaking of dresses, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen was one of the funniest books I have read in a while. Not exactly fashion related, but certainly a perfect cozy up on the couch, weekend read. To quote Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat, Love, Pray " It is rare that I literally laugh out loud while I'm reading, but Rhoda Janzen's voice-singular, deadpan, sharp-witted and honest-stayed with me."
~Award season continues! Sunday night don't forget to cast your votes for the SAG awards, as well as the Red Carpet best fashions awards on E!
~And clearly you can't watch skinny people in fancy outfits without stuffing yourself silly. One of my favorite-est recipe sites for great food that won't bust the belt, Skinny Taste offers up a lightened up version of Taco Dip. Muy Bueno!!
Today I would like to introduce you to the owner and operator of Cambié Beauty, Tami deVries. A local girl at one time born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts. Tami now lives in Arizona, married for 20 years to her high school sweetheart. She is very active within a healthy life style, a proud vegetarian for over 15 years. A lover of animals, running, yoga, nature hikes, cooking vegetarian meals and baking healthy goodies of all kinds.

Always aware of current trends related to all areas within the industry from client relations, marketing, product development and designing of a medical spa in Los Angeles. Tami has gained considerable business experience by working with and for two of the most influential pioneers of the skin care industry; Aida Thibiant of Beverly Hills and Aida Grey of Beverly Hills both whom provided services and skin care products to the stars.
Cambié Beauty has been a dream, to help educate retail and professional customers that to look good on the outside is to feel good on the inside, both outward beauty and inward beauty are parallel. To view oneself and the world around them in a new light; healthy radiance−body, healthy outlook−mind, healthy being−soul to see the beauty within each individual and to help enhance that beauty. Knowledge is to be shared with everyone...
Tami and I exchanged a few emails and I asked her to suggest some beauty products for us Mamas as skin care is our topic this week. Here is some knowledge she was happy to share.
Blue luggage, raccoon eyes or dark circles whatever you call it, you don't want it...
This process begins in the capillaries, tiny blood vessels that surround the delicate eye tissue. At times these capillaries will leak and pool under the eye area. This is a common sign of aging, the skin becomes thinner which makes the reddish-blue color more pronounced. Maintenance is key, using the proper eye treatment is most important. Jadience intensive eye treatment provides an all natural solution to reducing puffiness and wrinkles; and yes you can say good bye to blue luggage.
With the benefits of Jade powder to help strengthen your skins natural defenses, Ginseng to help with puffiness and redness, Tamanu Oil to hydrate and Comfrey to promote cell renewal. Every skin care regiment needs a great eye treatment. Request your free sample, go to Cambié Beauty's Facebook page and get yours today...
Thanks Tami! Mamas be sure to like her facebook page it is full of great tips on beauty care her latest post is a slideshow on healthy foods for your skin! I just made my grocery list!!
It was an hour and forty five minute drive on a tuesday night with four kids but my friend Jon Goode and Big Baby Davis were worth every... I'm hungry, are we there yet? When are we going to be there? Why is it sooo long mom to get there! I'm hungry!
I of course a proud Boston Sports Fan kinda gal and mom of four was all over this! The launch party we were attending at the Lowell Beer Works was to promote the book titled Basketball with Big Baby and to raise money for a Charity called C2 Mission a charity that helps children affected by cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis.
We made it and met Big Baby Davis! who by the way told us they WILL be bringing a Championship banner back to Boston this year!! Waaahoooo!!!!!
I caught up with the author of the book Jon Goode and put him in "The Haute Seat" here is what he had to say.........
How did the book come about? Theme?
The book idea came about as I wanted to do something different than my first one which was an actual story. As I contemplated different ideas I really liked the thought of spelling out the word "BASKETBALL" then using each letter as an adjective. I felt it was something kids and parents could relate too while also allowing fun illustrations.
How did you get to collaborate with Big Baby Davis?
I first met and talked with Big Baby before a Lowell Spinners game where he was doing an appearance on a special Celtics Night throwing autographed mini-basketballs into the crowd fans and kids could win. I showed him my first book and really loved it. When I mentioned the idea of doing one with him he was all about it and has been great to work with right from that point. He is really excited about the childrens book and has been very supportive.
What would you like our mom's to know about the books message to children?
There are many messages in the book, but my favorite messages are effort, setting goals and believing in yourself. I think those three all go hand in hand and are very important for kids to learn. It's important for kids to set goals and go after those goals, but the only way they will achieve those goals is by putting in the right effort and hard-work while believing you can achieve anything.
Why have you chosen the C2 Mission as your Charity?
The C2 Mission is a foundation I started a few years ago to benefit children and families affected by Cerebral Palsy and Cystic Fibrosis. It's important to me on a personal level as I have CP and because of my mom I now live a normal life where people cannot tell.
When I was a baby and the time came for me to walk I had a lot of trouble walking. Finally my mom decided to take me to the doctors to find out what was wrong and I was diagnosed with having Cerebral Palsy. The doctor told my mom I would never be able to walk. My mom is my hero as she took so much time out of her life to put me through physical therapy and is the reason why I can walk and live a normal life now. All I remember is running on the beach and to me that was fun. I never realized it was physical therapy. I have since gone on to attend college on a running scholarship and have run a marathon in under three hours (2:54 to be exact). Everyday I wake up so thankful I can do things on my own from taking a shower to brushing my teeth. Now I want to be able to give back to others because of how lucky I am.
My niece Alison has Cystic Fibrosis so its a personally dream of mine that kids with CF can grow up to live a normal life like I have been able too.
Pictured above is the Illustrator Rachel Gregorio, Glen Davis and Author Jon Goode
Writing children's books and my job with the Spinners has allowed me to do something that has become one of my favorite things, which is tour elementary schools speaking to all the kids talking about the messages each book delivers. I might not make a difference with every child, but even if its just one it's worth it. I am able to use the Spinners, Red Sox, Celtics and the players to capture the kids attention and when I have their attention deliver positive messages. I just have so much fun speaking with the kids and interacting with them. The questions they have can be a riot.
Thanks Jon! the world could use more positive role models like you for our children. Mamas this book is fun and easy to read and really has a wonderful message about hard work, loving what you do and believing in yourself. Kate, Christina and I would highly recommend it as mom's and Proud Celtics fans! You can order a copy of the book here and you are also making a contribution to a wonderful charity. Makes a wonderful donation to your child's school or Public Library as well.
And now the Mamas would like to giveaway a copy of this book signed by the author and Big Baby Davis to one lucky fan of Three Haute Mamas. Just send us a comment on twitter, Facebook or our blog to enter . We will be choosing a winner on Monday the 20th! Good Luck!
I'm telling you there is something in the water down here in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts that seems to draw out talent! We have so many Mamaprenuers in our town we could just dedicate the entire blog to them.
Today I would like to introduce you to one... Interior Decorator and mother of (four boys) Greta Fox. Greta has opened her home to us and allowed us to show you her vision of Christmas in her new seaside home. Mamas prepared to be wowed!!!!
and here are some more shots for you to enjoy of our very talented friend Greta Fox.
" When decorating your home for the Holidays to create the biggest impact pick one favorite spot preferably high up like a mantle. Somewhere out of reach from curious little hands and don't be afraid to get creative. I like to use Mercury glass because it reflects the light from the tree as well as candles etc. For tree placement I like to tell my clients to place it near a window because it reflects the light and creates a bigger impact at night." - Greta
As you can see in this picture below creativity is Greta's strong point! She had these bunk beds custom built for her boys and with the ceiling painted navy.... skies the limit!
Besides the interior Design shows she frequents, Greta also finds items for her clients at local shops like Serendipity by the Sea, Homegoods, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn etc.
Greta provides services in Interior Decorating, Visual Displays, Holiday Decorating, Party Decor, Home Staging, Paint Consultation as well as Home Building/Design Consultant. To contact Greta you may email her at Gretafox@comcast.net
Greta, thank you for allowing us to show your home it is truly Spectacular! You are one Haute Talented Mama! We wish you much continued success in your business.
As you know Kate, Christina and I are all about Mamas helping Mamas and one of the charities we support are in need of our help. As we begin our decent into the coldest months of the year Room to Grow posted this on their website. We have an urgent need for winter coats and snowsuits, especially in size newborn to 3 months.
You could help by getting the word out to friends and family, host a collection drive or deliver your lightly used or new jackets to Room to Grow directly or to one of our collection sites. Kate, Christina and I would gladly pick up any donations you may have and forward them along. Just email us at threehautemamas@gmail.com
As you know Kate, Christina and I have decided that one way we can help our fellow mamas who are battling breast cancer in our community is to show our support at some of these events.
Susan Wornick said it best. Breast cancer doesn't run in my family but it could one day, and I have friends and women in my community who have been affected by it and that is why it is important for me to help. Well I feel the same way. I have watched helplessly two dear friends in their very early thirties battle breast cancer! All with the demands of babies at home. I am so thankful to say they are survivors in every sense of the word.
This night at the fabulous Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, three women playwrights Lisa Rafferty, Pam Ahi and Jane McGovern of the Momologues wrote a scripted reading called Pink Ribbon Overdose to benefit The Ellie Fund. It was comedy and it was reality all wrapped in one. I think one of the best attributes we have as women is our strength and our ability to find the funny in life. This night we laughed and laughed and at the end of the show I looked at my sister and we were crying. Typical women!! hahaha!! Oh ya and then we all hit the bar!!
I can not say enough wonderful things about the Ellie Fund. They really throw amazing events and I know I speak for Kate and Christina as well, we hope as we grow to be able to contribute more. Our Mamas need us!!
This was indeed a fabulous night and as usual Susan Wornick had us all in stitches laughing. She joked that people would come up to her and say "you are so funny." "cause you know you're not that funny on TV." hahaha!! Little did she know my mom was saying the same thing to me about her. " I never realized how funny she was."
Hi, Kate here, and my two cents on the play. Early on I sat listening to these woman explain diagnosis, chemo, and what it meant to them. I got it, but I didn't really "get it" until I looked out at the room around me, full of survivors and women undergoing chemotheraphy on their way to becoming survivors. To imagine being in their( high heeled) shoes sent the lump into my throat, the tears in my eyes, and my pride soaring..You ladies are truly haute!
The play was read by Julie Lerner Nations Director of The Ellie Fund and mom of three under the age of 4! She was joined by channel 5's morning anchor Bianca de la Garza, daughter of a breast cancer survivor and mom of a 4 year old daughter as well as Erica McDermott mom, nurse and daughter of a breast cancer survivor and now actress! You will see her in the upcoming movie "The Fighter" as Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale's sister. Congrats Erica! and last but not least Karen Holmes Ward breast cancer survivor and lives by these prime directives: ' laughter is the best medicine', 'shop til you drop' and take time to 'uncork your inner diva!' I will give an amen to that!!!
Kate, Christina and I along with our winner Michelle Murphy of Scituate Mass had a ball, we walked the red carpet, fell in love with a great drink Iced tea vodka with lemonade!! YIKES!! and mingled with the crowd! We laughed, we cried bust most important we wanted to show our support!
The Ellie Fund has lots of fantastic events throughout the year and we will post them on our blog but you can do your part by becoming a fan on facebook and visiting their website! Mamas helping Mamas!! We think that is soooo Haute!!!!
