Hats "on" for the British!

Hello Mamas,

Yes I am awake at this ungodly hour sitting here taking in every moment of the Royal Wedding. I remember watching with my grandmother in 1981 the wedding of Charles and Diana. This morning many years and life experiences later as I watch now my mind wanders more to Kate Middleton. Having been a bride myself I think about the moments before she walks down that aisle. The comfort for her is that she has known Prince William for almost a decade. They have grown up together and have survived the young and reckless years of school and still choose each other. I see a forever fairy tale for these two, thankfully because the world needs a fairy tale. 

As I anticipate seeing the beautiful Kate and her wedding gown I am in awe of the British guests and their Hats!!! One designer that is being worn today is Philip Treacy. His hats are a work of art, the dilemma for me would be which one to chose!

So on this day April 29, 2011 my hat is off to the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge or as we will always think of them Prince William and Princess Kate. May you remain "IN" love for the rest of your royal life together. Sigh............

Royally Fun! Bianca de la Garza, M.Al-Fayed + of course..Will and Kate

You all know I love me a good celeb, and the royals are like the frosting on the cake.  Three haute mama friend Bianca de la Garza is over covering the royal affair for WCVB Channel 5 and got to sit down with Princess Dianas lovers father, Mohamed Al-Fayed.  How fabulously glamorous is that? I'm a little obsessed.  Can you imagine owning Harrods? I own shoes, chairs, books, but Harrods?! Un. Real. He said he thinks William wanted him at the wedding but he was blocked by the royal family! Gasp! That is sooo royal family like! That is exactly why this country needs a royal family-for stories like this.  Watch all of Bianca's amazing reporting here and on the wonderful Channel 5

 

I am very in awe of the soon to be princess because like any girl my age I was up at the crack o' early watching Princess Diana  marry her soon to be ex-husband prince and sucked up every single 25 foot train minute of it.  Not gonna lie..I wanted to be a princess.  Still kinda do.  Will have to settle on sharing a name with one.  Enter my name twin Kate.  Similarities end there.

Thus defying the age old myth about Brits and bad teeth...

She's about 8 feet tall, body of a model and seems to be about the nicest person on earth.  The couple seems genuinely in love, and very, very down to earth.  Made me wonder what they'd do if they weren't surrounded by all this royalty.  I don't see them having such a traditional wedding.  I definitely think they'd be more of a Newport, Rhode Island type couple, preppy with a little off the beaten path thrown in.  Something cas, and family/friend oriented.  Maybe she'd invite her name twin? Moi? Maybe some J.Crew wedding attire because if they were "real" people they wouldn't have couture access now would they? Regardless I'll be up at the crack o'early once again, all eyes on London and the cute couple.  Will you be watching too? Haute Happenings.......

 

Kate, Christina and I are in the trenches with you Mamas and now with spring sports and school activities starting full throttle it almost feels like we have been sucked into the Vortex of a Tornado. One thing we really believe in is to try and take some time for you.  We know all the hoops we need to jump through to get a night out.  I remember many times standing at the stove all decked out in my girls night out outfit and stiletto heels cooking Mac and Cheese making sure everyone was taken care of so I can have some piece of mind when I head out the door. 

However, when we get out whether it is with our girlfriends or significant others its worth it!  Here are a few great events coming up we wanted to share with you.

Thursday April 28th

Room to Grow is a nonprofit organization that provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items during their children’s critical first three years of development. Run on Down- The Greater Boston Running Company

We spoke of that little race that came through town last week, and what better time to discuss a runners favorite accessory-their shoes! While I am by no means a true runner, I like to call myself a slogger (slow+jogger=slogger), I do put a few miles on my sneaks, and do have other feet issues aside from a lack of a good pedicure.  I have found the mall shoes stores will sell me anything with a price tag on them, and my back is the one paying the price.  

Enter the Greater Boston Running Company.  

At the Running Company, we specialize in gait analysis for every runner and walker who comes through the door. The properly fitted shoe is the foundation for successful training. As part of our service, we  will watch each customer’s foot strike as they walk and jog on our in-store treadmill. Using the skillfully trained eye or the video camera as a tool, our staff will observe the rate in which your foot is pronating. This will tell us which type of shoe is going to be the most beneficial and appropriate for the customer. This simple but yet very effective process is the best way to make sure you have the proper support and cushion to prevent injuries.

They also have may-jah league running apparel, accessories and of course, shoes.  Staff is knowledgeable and won't make sloggers like msyelf feel foolish for not running a 6 minute mile.  In fact, they help out the walkers pick out proper kicks as well.   I scored a sweet pair of Asics GT-2160's that keep my over pronating footsies stable on my long slogs, and look good to boot.  

I visited the Hingham and Newburyport stores, and there is also one in Lexington.  When I first got fit, I walked in wearing the complete opposite shoes made for my foot/gait.  The difference was unreal.  I felt like I was running on little pillows.  Now instead of running to the local mall, I run to a Greater Boston Running Company and support the local economy as well as my feet.  

As a side note, my girls and I got to try out our new kicks and participated in a road race this past weekend sponsored by Stonyfield Farms.  Although it was raining, snowing, and freezing we had a great time! Well..most of us did...

The Mamas first ever TV Interview!!

Hello Mamas,

Recently we were asked by a local cable TV show called Robbi Around Town if we would like to appear on the show and talk about how we became bloggers, what we have been busy doing lately and also talk about spring fashion trends.  We thought it may be fun to come out from behind the Laptop and the flip  so we agreed! 

Robbi Around Town is a local cable show that airs on Old Rochester Cable Television. The show is  hosted by Robbi Dunn-Tracy, Haute Mama of three and brings you up to the minute information on Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester. Show times are Comcast channel 9 /Verizon channel 36 Monday 2:00 pm Tuesday 9:00 pm Thursday 6:00 pm Sunday 10:00 am.

Chelsea Baby-Baby those are some haute (and green!) shoes!

 

Our shoe fascination isn't limited to just our own feet these days..ohnonono..It was bad to begin with but once children entered our lives, it went all went to pot.  There clearly aren't enough closets in one house, especially if you're a mom of a little girl, let alone, three little girls.  That's why we were overjoyed to find Chelsea Baby Luxury Baby Shoes and the uber cute Chelsea Greene herself.  

Chelsea Baby Shoes are made from "Sensuede" fabric, the first of its kind material made using 100% recycled fibers in its construction and 100% GREEN in it's entire milling process.  We also have a unique additoin to the shoes which are a snap on and off tulle bouquet for girls and snap on and off bow ties for boys.  These interchangeable tulle bouquests can also be snapped onto our very popular girls headbands.  

One pair of shoes, multiple bows.  After we were done pouting that these little beauties were too small for our footsies, we had to know the story behind these eco-friendly fashions, that were environmentally friendly and haute! 

I went to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC for Accessory Design. It was there while constructing shoes from the bottom up and making patterns for handbags that I knew I could succeed at designing my own line. I went on to work for DONGHIA Showroom in NYC starting out as a intern sorting fabric samples, and trying to learn everything I could about the textile industry. Shortly I moved on up to Sales Representative and started playing with the big boys and girls. I thought I had made it! Minnesota girl moves to the Big City. But I was not done there. I moved to Chicago to manage a Showroom and from there back to MN where I became the Outside Sales Representative for textile companies such as Designers Guild, Clarence House, Osborne & Little and Nina Campbell. If you are familiar with any of these designers prints you would would know where I get my inspiration from! I love COLOR and putting together different patterns, textures, and styles together hopefully introducing a fresh take on fashion to the childrens marketplace. After constantly working for designers I thought to myself I am a designer too and I should go for it and start my own line. So thats just what I did. I left my position and made it happen. I have a amazing team of people that work with me. We work out of Minneapolis and are the shoes are all made out of Minneapolis as well. Another fun thing about the line is that all the shoes are named after the people that I love and are important to me. Some of them are a bit crazy I know! The de bossed logo on the bottom of the shoes is designed after my Nana vintage broach (which my very talented brother designed).

Like the Nike ad says "Just Do It", and she did.  Awesome Chelsea....

Wanna Get Away-Calypso St. Barth Headed to Target in May

Hi mamas, hopefully you're all enjoying spring break somewhere warm and tropical! Kimberly is living it up in the city-New York City-and I just got back from Burlington, Vermont.  Neither of which constitutes a tropical get away, however, anywhere we don't have to cook=vacay!

Speaking of tropical, grab those red shopping carriages, because starting May 1, Calypso St. Barth for Target is debuting their collaboration and one of us (rhymes with Late) will be front and center, Starbucks in hand.  

Calypso St. Barth was first founded 19 years ago on the island of St. Barthelemy in the French West Indies. Since then, the retailer has grown from a small resort-wear line to a luxury lifestyle brand.  It's no Burlington Vermont, but St. Bart sounds like a fairly nice place to spend a lifetime vacation! 

Pieces will range from 1.99 to 79.99, so no need to sweat it out over high prices, this is Target after all.  The line will be carried only until June 11th though so get those minivans moving.

If One Haute Mama Had a Baby: Welcome Haute Tots Boston

No..sorry, no real life baby here, just Kate branching out the "Haute" empire (I should probably put quotation marks around empire as well, huh?) to the under 4' crowd.  We don't discriminate here.

Saturday Roundup: Pink Pageant, Spring Break Plans + Get Out the VOTE

Happy Saturday Mamas! It's Spring Break here, and Kimberly and Kate are taking this week to hit the road  with their haute kids.  Traveling is my favorite thing to do and I can't wait to get out of town!  Can't travel without chic travel accessories right? How about this handmade eco friendly kimono robe?  Who says you can't lounge in luxury, even when the kids are hooping and hollering through the hotel room?
