Hello Mamas,
Yesterday I visited Room to Grow Headquarters in Boston. I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Elizabeth Chernack Community Relations Manager and also Saskia Epstein Executive Director for Room to Grow Boston.
Upon arriving I was instantly greeted and made to feel right at home. These women are warm and kind and very passionate about making a difference. I was impressed by all the wonderful items that they had received thus far and also with the way it was merchandised. I felt like I was in a boutique! The thought behind that is, they want their moms to see the pride Room to Grow has in helping them as well as their child.
All of this requires help of volunteers. From filling their shelves with clothes, strollers, books etc. to volunteering your time at Room to Grow by helping to sort items and stock the shelves for our Mom's and Babies in need. This is where they are asking for our help!
For 2011 Room to Grow Boston is looking to expand to serve upwards of 350 babies. To best fulfill their needs, they also need to expand their Volunteer Committees.
What a committee member would be asked to do is organize at least one collection drive or contact a local place of business to become a collection site. Help with Program Committee activities, like holiday gift wrapping at Henry Bear's Park. The program committee will meet twice a year as a group and you will also be needed to volunteer at least one two hour sessions to help sort in-kind donations. You can come solo or with co-workers, family or friends. If you are interested in becoming a program committee member you can contact elizabeth@roomtogrow.org
Kate, Christina and I are so excited to help and organize our first collection drive! We hope to help spread the word today and enlist a few Mamas around Massachusetts to help as well.
Only great souls know the grandeur there is in Charity --- Jacques Benigne Bossuet
Lets add this to our forward thinking list of 2011.... I'm looking forward to making a difference at Room to Grow!
XO Kimberly, Kate and Christina
