I had 3 pregnancies in 4 years. That's a lot of donuts. The only exercise I did during my pregnancies was exercising my option to have another sandwich. I had a lot of work to do after baby #3 was born.
Every single day I am up with the sun. Not because I particularly love being up with the sun, but because that is the time I work out. I do one solid hour of cardio every morning, and burn at least 500 calories. Doing this religiously, every single morning has prevented me from carrying the additional 20 lbs that wanted to remain glued to my fanny, thighs, stomach, eyeballs, you name it, when the babies were born. I do not rely on the treadmill screen or my own idea of what 500 calories burned is, I use a Polar F6 heart rate monitor with a chest strap, which is key! Sometimes I burn way more than 500 calories and on those days I am super pumped. Sometimes it's all I can do to make it to 500 in an hour. Regardless I feel like dancing when I'm done because I'm just that-done for the day and I've already burned 500 calories!
The 500 calories seems to be the key and I thank heavens for the angel (my former trainer-Liddy how do I love thee?) who shared this tidbit with me! So gals.. I am certainly no supermodel, or personal trainer, and honestly, I am not even acceptably fit to myself these days. Howeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... one thing remains constant, and that is my devotion to my cardio. So my words of wisdom are to get a heart rate monitor, get moving, and aim for 500 calories burned. Start small, and break it up if you have to. Set a goal for 100, then 200, then 300. Whatever you do, just get physical..I simply cannot be the only one who wanted to be Olivia newton John in the 80's.
