I am not a gambler. Not even in Las Vegas. But put me on Ebay and watch me gamble like Ben Affleck circa JLo.
I had no idea the world Ebay offered until a very well dressed haute mama friend of mine filled me in on this little gem. At a fraction of the cost she was purchasing designer items and no one was wiser for the wear. I was still nervous so I started slow. A purse here. A bag there. Now I might be bidding on 17 different things at a time. I have high standards and a zero budget so I can do this. Some of my favorite steals
-A $19 withthetagsstillonit Juicy Couture maxi dress. Loves!!
-jeans! Name your brand..Paige Premium..Juicy Couture..Seven for all mankind. My closet is filled. I won't tell you the prices because I'm afraid you'd hate me but mamas.. I'd be stupid to shop TJMaxx with prices like these (but guess what..My last name should be Maxx I'm there so often..you get my point)
-my favorite, butter-y soft leather Kooba bag. I could use it as a pillow. That. Soft.
creme de la mer. You think I pay retail for this stuff?! snort..

****The real deal with Ebay***
Not only can you score the deals, gamble like a Hollywood actor and win like the Boston Celtics (holla!). It's very important to keep in mind that trends only last so long. Certain items that you just had to have and paid top dollar for may not have ever seen the light of day once you got them home and came to your senses. That's where Ebay comes back into play. In addition to buying, I also sell. I'm no power seller. I'm not here to tell you how to sell or offer you tricks on the best ways to sell. Check out the message boards on Ebay, there are far more qualified sellers there to help you. But please ladies..check out your closets and purge those muffin top inducing designer jeans, that once worn Chanel score of a cocktail dress, or that judith Leiber purse that holds half a lipstick. If times are tough, (read husbands this close to pulling the Bloomies card), and stock needs to be replenished, then move the current goods. Trust me if I can manage to sell a few things on Ebay while running my crazy life with 3 little ones, you can sell a purse. Some things I've unloaded:
-2 Vera Wang dresses at the same prices I paid for them. HA! is all I have to say
-Seven for all mankind jeans. Glory be to God, when I finally ditched that baby weight I would have given these puppies away, but instead I took 4 minutes to list them and hallelujah..
-Lots of Lily Pulitzer maternity dresses. Again. So long. Farewell. auf wiedersehen. goodbye.......
The lowdown:
Look on Ebay first. What do you have to lose? If you are a first timer, read up, and learn. This should go without saying.... If you need to replenish inventory, move your stock on Ebay. Hey, even making 50% of what you paid is better than what you're making having it take up valuable real estate in your closet. In my findings, designer names do significantly better than non branded items. Use this as justification next time you're out shopping with hubs. I can't say it works ever every time but absolutely worth a shot!
Have a haute weekend mamas!!

It is indeed an addiction!!
Oh Yes, I tapped my foot along to their catchy television ads a few years back about how they scored "it" on Ebay! "Whatever it is, you can get it on Ebay" and my personal favorite, Ebay... "The power of all of us". If I were to market Ebay today I would market them as "The World's Ultimate Recycle Bin"
I have not sold anything yet on Ebay but after reading Kate's blog... I am sooo going to do some spring cleaning of my closet and Recycle my goods!!!!
My recent score on Ebay were these Tory Burch Wedge Sandals!!! I saved about $75 dollars by getting them on Ebay. Like Christina had noted in her shoe blog... I spent a bit more for a great designer and a traditional shoe that will last many season's!!!!
When the high of my Tory Burch score wore off I bid on a pair of my favorite Designer Paige Jeans!!! They no longer carried the style that I loved in stores so I decided to check Ebay and YES!!!!! I could hear the man scream... SOLD TO THE WOMAN IN HER??????? PJ's???? hahahaha!!! That was quite a night as I drifted off to sleep a little more fashionable and thrifty than I started the day!!! They also have a new department called The Fashion Vault http://fashionvault.ebay.com/ Check it out Haute Mamas!!!
We hope our blog will get you to venture onto Ebay "The World's Ultimate Recycle Bin"
:-) Kimberly
